The Chocolate Hills is the most famous tourist attraction in Bohol. It is an extraordinary geological formation, which are formed thousand years ago. The creations of these hills are topics to many disputes. There is a proposed statement that the Chocolate Hills were man-made just like the pyramids of Egypt. This idea was being neglected because it is more complicated to create almost 1,268 hills than creating the pyramids. The Hills are uniform in shape and usually between 30 and 50 meters high. It is spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometers (20 sq mi) throughout the towns of Carmen, Batuan and Sagbayan in Bohol. Because of its fame, the province featured the Hills in their provincial flag and seal to symbolize the abundance of natural attractions. They are covered with green grass, which turns out into chocolate brown during dry season. This transforms the area into seemingly endless rows of "chocolate kisses". Hence, the name Chocolate Hills was derived. Of the 1,247 hills, two have been developed into resorts for tourism. Chocolate hills have been declared the country's third National Geological Monument and proposed for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
